A ganglion cyst is usually harmless, but you might notice:
- A visible bump on the wrist
- Mild discomfort or pressure
- Pain when moving the joint
- Tingling if it presses on a nerve
Some people feel nothing at all—it’s just there.
What You Should NOT Do
You may have heard old advice like “hit it with a book” to make it disappear. Don’t do that. It can cause injury or make things worse.
What Actually Helps
- Rest your wrist and reduce repetitive strain
- Use a wrist brace if needed
- Apply gentle compression
- See a doctor if it becomes painful or grows
In many cases, it can go away on its own.
