Step 1: Prepare the Chicken
- Slice the chicken fillets into evenly sized strips.
- Pat them dry with paper towels.
Step 2: Make the Marinade
In a large bowl, whisk together:
- Eggs
- Minced garlic
- Salt
- Black pepper
- Paprika
- Garlic powder
- Onion powder
- Italian seasoning (if using)
Add the chicken strips and toss until fully coated.
Let marinate for 15–30 minutes for extra flavor.
Step 3: Prepare the Coating
In a shallow bowl, combine:
- Flour
- Breadcrumbs
- Parmesan cheese (optional)
- Paprika
- Black pepper
Mix well.
Step 4: Coat the Chicken
- Remove each chicken strip from the egg mixture.
- Coat thoroughly in the breadcrumb mixture.
- Press gently so the coating sticks well.
Arrange the coated strips on a plate.
Step 5: Preheat the Oven
- Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F).
- Line a baking tray with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
Step 6: Bake
- Place the coated chicken strips on the prepared baking tray, leaving a little space between each piece.
- Lightly spray or brush with olive oil.
Bake for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until:
- The coating is golden brown.
- The chicken reaches an internal temperature of 74°C (165°F).
For extra crispiness, broil for the last 2–3 minutes, keeping a close eye on them.
Optional: Fry Instead
If you prefer fried chicken strips:
- Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil to 175°C (350°F).
- Fry the chicken strips in batches for 4–5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and fully cooked.
- Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Step 7: Serve
Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces, such as:
- Honey mustard
- Ranch dressing
- BBQ sauce
- Buffalo sauce
- Garlic aioli
- Sweet chili sauce
Tips for Perfect Chicken Strips
- Panko breadcrumbs create an extra-crispy coating.
- Don’t overcrowd the baking tray, or the chicken won’t crisp evenly.
- Marinating the chicken for at least 15 minutes enhances flavor and tenderness.
- Flip the strips halfway through baking for an even golden crust.
