
Vanilla Custard Puff Pastry Cake
Ingredients

4 egg yolks

1/3 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
2 cups whipped cream

1 pack store-bought puff pastry

1/2 cup unsalted butter
8 oz cream cheese
2 cups milk
Instructions
1. Bake the Puff Pastry
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
Roll out the puff pastry and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Prick all over with a fork to prevent excessive puffing.
Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden and crisp.
Let cool completely, then cut into two equal rectangles or layers.
2. Make the Vanilla Custard Cream
In a saucepan, whisk together sugar and flour.
Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth.
Add the egg yolks and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened.
Remove from heat and stir in the butter until melted.
Let the custard cool to room temperature.
3. Make the Cream Layer
Beat the cream cheese until smooth.
Gently fold in the whipped cream until light and fluffy.
Once the custard is cool, fold it into the cream cheese mixture until smooth.
4. Assemble the Cake
Place one puff pastry layer on a serving plate.
Spread a thick, even layer of the custard cream on top.
Top with the second puff pastry layer.
Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to set.
