1. Prepare the Oven & Pan

2. Cream Butter & Sugar
- In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy (3–5 minutes)

3. Add Eggs
- Add eggs one at a time
- Beat well after each addition
4. Mix Dry Ingredients
- In another bowl, whisk:
- Flour
- Baking powder
- Baking soda
- Salt
5. Combine Wet & Dry
- Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk
- Start and end with dry ingredients
- Stir in vanilla extract

6. Bake the Cake
- Pour batter into prepared pan
- Bake for 40–50 minutes
- A toothpick should come out clean
7. Prepare the Buttermilk Sauce
While the cake bakes:
- In a saucepan, combine:
- Sugar
- Butter
- Buttermilk
- Bring to a gentle boil
- Remove from heat
- Stir in vanilla and baking soda
👉 It will foam slightly—this is normal.
8. Soak the Cake
- While cake is still warm, poke holes all over
- Slowly pour warm sauce over the cake
👉 Let it soak deeply for maximum flavor.

- Allow to cool slightly
